ダイアン・ラーセン＝フリーマン（Diane Larsen-Freeman、1946年 - ）は、ミシガン大学アナーバー校の教育学・言語学名誉教授。第二言語習得、第二言語としての英語、外国語としての英語教育、教師教育、そして英文法の研究で知られる応用言語学者であり、第二言語発達への複雑／動的システムアプローチの業績が有名である。

略歴

ラーセン＝フリーマンが最初に就いた仕事は平和部隊のボランティアであり、1967年から1969年までマレーシアのサバ州で英語を教えた。この経験が、彼女の言語習得への関心に火をつけた。その後ミシガン大学の大学院で学び、1975年に言語学の博士号を取得した。

大学教員としてのキャリアをカリフォルニア大学ロサンゼルス校でスタートし、続いてSIT大学院大学で教鞭をとった。 2002年、彼女はミシガン大学に戻り、英語研究所を指揮した。また、同大学教育学部および言語学科の教授にも任命された。2012年にミシガン大学を定年退職し、同大学の英語研究所および教育学部・言語学科ならびにSIT大学院大学の名誉教授になった。現在も活発に教育・研究活動を続けており、ペンシルベニア大学大学院教育学研究科の客員上級研究員として英語の構造と第二言語発達に関する科目を教えている。
