クララ・ウォード

クララ・ウォード(Clala Ward, 1924年4月21日-1973年1月16日)はアメリカ合衆国ペンシルベニア州出身のゴスペル歌手である。

来歴[編集]

母親のガートルード・ウォードの娘として、フィラデルフィアで生まれた。1931年にはウォード・シンガーズとして活躍し始め、最初のグループは1952年まで、次のグループは1953年から1972年まで活動した。クララは生涯は経済的な困難や、交際相手による暴力など、さまざまな困難の連続だった。特にアレサ・フランクリン[1]の父親であるCLフランクリン[2]による暴力はBBキング[3]やジェームズ・クリーブランド[4]も目撃していた[5]。クララ・ウォードは1973年に48歳で死去している。
