CHERUBINO S BALLAD The overture is a most delightful one, written in true Mozartian style. Mozarts Marriage of Figaro, with itsmerry plot and music, is one of the mostdelightful of musical comedies, and regretmust be expressed for the all too infre-quent performance of this ever-youngand lovely opera, in which the complica-tions of the story, the quick changes ofmood, and the sparkling humor are allso well reflected in the music. In nosingle opera, perhaps, is there such asuccession of musical gems as in Figaro.Each is perfect in its way and each seemsto enhance the beauty of the others. Those who have read the story ofBarber of Seville -will find themselves againmaking the acquaintance of Bartolo,Almaviva and Figaro, some time after themarriage of the dashing Count to Bar-tolo s ward. The Count has settled downquietly on his estates, while Figaro, asa reward for his services as a match-maker, has been appointed major-domoof the castle.
