Caricature of gambling, showing a number of men — and one woman — at an early roulette table, ca. 1800.
The intent was probably as much to satirize male clothing, hairstyles, and mannerisms as it was to accurately document a roulette table.
For a late 19th-century illustration apparently based on this one (but a little more sensationalized, showing the woman in scantier evening dress, and seated right in the center of the gambling), see File:A Gambling Hell in the Palais-Royal, Year VIII - 1800.jpg
