English: Operated as 'Black 2' by I/JG26 during the Battle of Britain, this early Bf 109E, WkNr 1289, was shot down on 28th November 1940 and forced landed in the sea near Udimore, Sussex.
It was shipped to South Africa for a War Loans tour in 1942 and in 1944 it joined the South African National Museum of Military History where it remains on display (as Red 2) at Saxonwold, Johannesburg.
